Inmagic® Content Server version 1.3 is here!
Take advantage of the new features and pricing
Next week Inmagic® Content Server version 1.3 will be available to our new and existing customers. This release includes a number of enhancements and marks the change in the naming of the Content Server components as communicated to our maintenance customers earlier this month.
Sample the new features and enhancements
Built on the Microsoft® SQL™ Server database, Inmagic Content Server provides a robust and flexible backend that enables CS/TextWorks and CS/WebPublisher PRO to interoperate within an existing IT infrastructure. The Content Server backend also powers our content catalog applications – Genie and Presto! Existing Content Server customers (Workgroup through Enterprise) will receive this release as part of their maintenance contract.
Enhancements to configuration: Content Server version 1.3 now supports Windows 2003 and database replication as well as intranet, extranet and firewall configurations.
Importer tool can handle XML files: The CS/Importer service can now import XML files, including those output by Inmagic® GathererPLUS.
Seamless migration for customers moving from DB/Text to Content Server: Content Server v1.3 includes an automated migration and utility tool for moving DB/Text databases to the Content Server backend – previously – this was purchased separately.
Packaging and pricing changes
Based on feedback from our customers and partners we have made changes to the naming of the Content Server Workgroup product: Content Server for Windows and Content Server for Web have been changed to CS/TextWorks and CS/WebPublisher PRO respectively to better reflect the relationship between DB/Text and Content Server products. The only difference between DB/Text and Content Server is the backend used - proprietary or MS SQL Server. The well-known functionality of the TextWorks and WebPublisher PRO software products is the same whether you are on the Content Server or DB/Text platform.
With the changes in how the products are packaged we have reduced the pricing for Workgroup Solutions on Content Server (TextWorks and WebPublisher PRO) to align with DB/Text pricing. These changes combined with the feature enhancements and our proven experience working with customers to get up and running on Content Server should help our customers in making the decision on which backend best meets their needs – DB/Text (proprietary) or Content Server (MS SQL Server).
For information on the changes to naming and price changes see the comprehensive customer FAQ. Please contact Inmagic directly (1.800.229.8398) or your local Inmagic Partner if you have any further questions.
