Giveaways! Contest! Feats of Strength!
Ok, no feats of strength. But we have been giving away a lot of fun prizes lately!
- First, we want to extend a *big* congratulations to Jennifer Larkin, Information Center Supervisor at McDonald’s Corporation – she won our SLA 2010 iPad giveaway. (More on SLA below!) Jennifer stopped by the Inmagic booth to chat, got her badge scanned, and won! Yup, sometimes it’s that easy to win! Enjoy the prize, Jennifer!
- Next up, congratulations to Megan Radomski – also known as @virtuallymeg on Twitter – who won Phil Simon's book, “The Next Wave of Technologies," via our “Retweet to win!” contest that spread the word about our podcast with Phil Simon.
Thanks to everyone who entered! And if you didn’t win this time, check out our latest contest: Ross Dawson, globally recognized as a leading futurist, entrepreneur, keynote speaker, strategy advisor and bestselling author, sat down with us to do an Info Pro-file, in which he talks about the latest in Enterprise 2.0 – the who, what, where, when and why.
Ross has generously agreed to gift one copy his new book "Implementing Enterprise 2.0" to one lucky Inmagic reader. Just read our interview with him here and leave a comment. That’s it – you’re entered to win! (This contest ends this Friday, July 2nd. So get going!)

Inmagic In New Orleans – our SLA 2010 Wrap-up
As usual, the SLA annual conference was excellent. From our perspective, what really stood out this year was quality of attendees, not necessarily the quantity. And that made for some really insightful, interesting conversations with both current customers and (we hope!) future customers.
Our staff spoke with some of the sharpest, most knowledgeable information pros out there. (They also scanned badges and collected business cards from the many, many people who wanted the Apple iPad!)
Word on the street indicated that folks enjoyed industry thought leader Cindy Sullivan's session, "Developing an Effective Strategic Plan for Your Library" as well as the Collection Intelligence panel featuring Mary Lane of Lorillard Tobacco.
Dave Golan, our VP of Library Solutions and Client Services, was stationed in our booth through the whole show. He shared his feedback in this recent blog post. Agree? Disagree? Leave a comment to let us know what you thought of this year's conference! |

What’s Happening on the Inmagic Blog?
Our blog has been a regular hotbed of activity lately. Check it out!
Phil vs. Phil
Kind of like Spy vs. Spy but much more agreeable. Our own Phil Green and E2.0 expert, author, and consultant, Phil Simon, hashed out the topic of the semantic Web. When is it coming? Is it already here? Who's driving adoption? What the heck is it anyway? And why should anyone care? (Hint: You should.) Check out this interactive podcast for more info.
Much ado about SharePoint
SharePoint 2010 officially launched in May and there has been much (more) discussion about what the impact will be: pros, cons, and everything in between. You can get our take on it here:
Creating and running a 21st century library
Listen to Cindy Sullivan discuss why she deployed a social library at Fidelity Investments. Cindy ran the Fidelity Center for Applied Technology Library at Fidelity Investments for nine years. At the end of the first year of running the library, Fidelity found a 400 percent increase in the library's usage. Hear how she did it.
The great pilot debate
“To pilot, or not to pilot?” That seems to be the hot question. According to Phil Green, the real question is this: Is a pilot the best way to prove the value of E2.0 solutions within your organization? The unequivocal answer is, IT IS NOT. Read why. |

Tips, Tricks and Tools from Inmagic Support
Ah, summer. A refreshing time. A time for change. Hey - speaking of change, do you want to change your choice browser buttons to links in Web Publisher Pro? If so, you’re going to love this month’s tip!
In order to convert from buttons to links, you’ll need to edit the design of the query screen in DB/TextWorks.
- In your textbase, go to Search > Design Query Screen and then select the search screen you’re displaying on your web page.
- Select a box on your search screen, then select Tools > Box Properties > HTML Tab. Make sure "Treat Query Box As" is selected.
- Go to the Index box and select the drop down list. Choose Choice Browser (link). This will add a link to your page that users can click to select their search parameters!
- Select "apply," and save the query screen.
- Export the query to HTML again, and save in the WebPublisher directory (WebPubPro or ICSWeb, depending on your product).
If you need help making the change, contact support@inmagic.com for assistance.
