Genie is built as an open system, with an XML API and the ability to export your organization’s data from the ILS at any time in a variety of formats, including MARC and XML.

Genie was designed from the ground up as a Web-based ILS, rather than by porting earlier technology to the Web. It is a streamlined ILS, with an interface focused on core library functionality.

Because the Genie ILS is part of the Inmagic product family, you can use complementary Inmagic products to create databases in addition to those required to support Genie, and thus easily provide access to a growing set of content resources both internal and external.
